rolling pallet racks for storing beer kegs
A prominent beer distributor recently installed Rolling Pallet Racks as a space saving storage solution for storing beer kegs. The distributor was quickly running out of space with traditional stationary pallet racking, and since they stored numerous specialty beers, they also needed to maintain selectivity to access stored beer kegs. The expense of building and operating another warehouse cooler was too costly, so they needed another option.
They installed rolling pallet racks and were able to increase their beer storage capacity by 60% while still providing 100% access to every SKU. In addition, the design of the rolling pallet racks allowed the beer distributor to use their existing pallet racking and counterbalanced lift trucks. By storing beer kegs on rolling pallet racks, they were able to save money by maximizing their existing warehouse cooler floor space. (view images of Rolling Pallet Racks)
how the rolling pallet racks work as space saving storage units
The conventional storage systems found in most climate controlled warehouse coolers consist of stationary pallet racks with fixed aisles between each row or racks, whereas the rolling pallet racks only need one movable access aisle. This innovative design allows you to convert static aisles into more pallet storage racks and maximize the storage footprint area. To create the rolling pallet rack system, racks are put on carriages with wheels that are mounted onto tracks. The tracks attach to the floor so racks move back and forth to compact together.
When you need access to stored SKUs, simply push a button to create an aisle where needed. Typically, the space saving storage racks will allow you to recover 50%-60% of your warehouse space that you can now use to increase your storage capacity or use as a revenue generating area.
