With a new office being built between two hangars at an aviation facility, the owner wanted to create a space to display and protect his collection of rare aviation books. Open shelving wasn’t an option, as this left the books susceptible to damage, and needed to be kept locked up to prevent theft and loss. Locking frameless glass acrylic doors on adjustable shelves were the innovative solution that allowed for an efficient rare book shelving system that would complement the existing interior design and meet all of the office’s space and storage needs.
Add Visibility & Aesthetic
The locking frameless glass acrylic doors can be engineered-to-order in all standard 4-post shelving dimensions. Available in a clear or frosted finish, the doors fit flush with the outside of the 4-post frame to create a sleek look that permits full visibility of stored contents while still providing security.
The doors come pre-drilled for convenient hardware installation. Keyed locks secure the units at the top and bottom with magnets to hold the doors closed when locking isn’t needed. The adjustable shelves add another level of usability to accommodate all types and sizes of books in the same unit.
The maximum height of the frameless glass acrylic doors is 96″ for a 97.525″ maximum height upright. Standard 4-post and case widths are available in 30″, 36″, 42″, and 48″.
