A manufacturer of special transport and heavy payload trailers for trucks specializes in individual transport solutions across 42 different countries with warehouses in three locations. With the centralization of their product locations, the manufacturer needed to reorganize their intralogistics and introduce a more efficient working model while saving space in their facility. Increased Productivity in Less Storage Space
The new central warehouse had to be able to store 17,000 items, which had to also be readily available for employees and customers when they were needed. Six vertical storage lifts with graduated height make optimal use of the space available, taking up only a fraction of the footprint that would otherwise be taken up by static racks. For fast delivery and retrieval of spare parts, the lifts are controlled by warehouse management software that manages and controls the units as well as putting and retrieval processes.
A service counter was installed behind the lifts so employees in the repair workshop can attend to customers’ needs. On the right-hand side, employees use the lifts to quickly retrieve the parts they need while customers are served on the left. Employees simply push a button to indicate which item they need, and it’s brought directly to them in no time at all.
After implementing the six vertical lifts into their putting, retrieval, and delivery process, the manufacturing facility has experienced an increase in productivity of 20%. Employees are happier that they can retrieve items much quicker, and customers are more satisfied with the fast service.
