Space Saving, Secure Storage for Pathology Slides in Medical Laboratories & Hospitals
Laws require medical laboratories and hospitals to keep pathology slides for a specific timeframe. These retention periods will vary based on the type of specimen, but many of them have to be kept for 10 years or longer. Some of the challenges associated with storing pathology slides include available storage space, weight limitations, confidentiality, and monitoring. Our Anatomic Pathology Slides Storage System is designed to meet these unique challenges to provide space-saving, secure storage and retrieval for pathology slides. Available on Vizient GPO Contract #CE2900 (Vizient customers call for contract pricing. Read about how to eliminate misfiles and automate the filing of glass slides.

Anatomic Pathology Slides Storage System Rises Above Every Storage Challenge
The Anatomic Pathology Slides Storage System is designed to support the weight of the slides while increasing storage density. In fact, medical laboratories and hospitals can save up to 75% of their floor space using the Pathology Slides Storage System instead of other standard methods.
The slides are stored in trays and placed on carriers within the automated storage system. When a slide is requested by an operator, the system rotates around vertically and delivers the tray to the operator at an ergonomically accessible height. Instead of bending and lifting heavy trays, the operator simply slides the tray out of the storage system onto a work counter. The work counter itself is adjustable so that it can be positioned at a standing position, a seated position, or anywhere in between.
With concern for patient confidentially, the Anatomic Pathology Slides Storage System can be closed and locked with the slides securely inside. Software technology added to the storage system ensures that the operator knows where the slide is for quick retrieval. This not only speeds up pick time, but also ensures the operator picks the correct slide. Furthermore, by integrating software with the storage system, each transaction can be recorded to provide user and inventory reports on demand.
In addition to slide storage carousels, we offer automated storage for lab specimen slides. This system uses a histology slide sorting machine that scans, sorts, and tracks slides in a database, making them easy to locate and access. The machine can process up to 4,000 slides per shift, saving hours of staff time and reducing human errors. The machine also integrates with existing software and shelving and has a modular design that can scale up to handle large volumes of slides.
